Kashim Shettima’s 16 Manufacturing Plants

By
Yakubu Ahmed-BK

…How he fought and worked for 8 years

O
ne thing that makes APC’s Vice Presidential Candidate Senator Kashim Shettima an all-round achiever, was his capacity to think out of the box for solutions to the most intractable problems. In his years as Governor of Borno state, he was known as a Governor that was fighting and working at the same time. He fought well and worked even harder to give Borno its best ever in terms of development.

The Borno Industrial Hub – housing 16 different manufacturing plants, situated along the busy Kano road, in the state capital is eye-catching as you drive into the city. You can’t help but notice a gigantic industrial city bubbling with life and churning out products that are used internally and are exported to countries out of our shores.

The industries are:

1. Solar Panels Production plant with a capacity for 120 megawatts annually
2. Tomato Processing Plant
3. Mango Juice Processing Lkant
4. Onion/Pepper/Garlic Dehydration Plant
5. Cassava Processing Plant
6. Pilot Juice Plant
7. PVC Pipes Production Plant (6 lines)
8. Cake/Biscuits Baking Plant (5 production lines
9. Corn Chips Plant (5 production lines)
10. Spiral Horse Production Plant
11. Irrigation Drip Tubes Production Plant
12. Elementary School Desks & Chairs Prod Plant
13. Assorted Joint Extrusion Plant For PVC pipes
14. Net shades/Canopy Shade Prod Plant
15. Grains Laminated Sacks Prod Plant
16, Plastic Mats Production Plant

Most of these plants have fired and have pushed products into local and international markets.

The beauty of it is that despite the running with insurgents for his while eight years in office, he had the presence of mind to achieve what states in absolute peace were no where near. He built more than forty mega (boarding) primary schools, to replace schools that were burnt down by the insurgents. Pupils intake into these world class primary schools came from communities and orphans of victims of the Boko Haram pogrom.
