Why Zuru Emirate Will Vote For Nasir Idris Again —Emir of Zuru

If Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi state decides to vie for re-election in 2027, the people of Zuru Emirate have pledged their total support for the bid.

The Emir of Zuru Major General (Retd) Mohammed Sani Sami who gave this assurance said this support is based on the Governor’s strides in fast tracking the development of infrastructure in Zuru Emirate and the state at large.

He noted, while receiving the Commissioner of Information and Culture Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK in his palace today, that no governor in the history of Kebbi state had done in eight years as much as Dr Idris has achieved under two years and is still doing for Zuru Emirate.

He remarked that before Dr Idris’s assumption of office, Zuru Emirate had given up hope of any solution to the insecurity that had bideviled the area resulting in the loss of many lives, livestock and farmlands to the marauding band of bandits.

“Farmers had abandoned their farmlands, many markets stopped holding and quite a number of young men had been kidnapped and enslaved by the bandits” the Emir recalled.

On coming to office, he added, Dr Idris worked hard and found a solution and today all farmers have returned to their farms leading to a bumper harvest last year.

He said that the Koko/ Zuru road which has remained dilapidated and forgotten thereby cutting off Zuru Emirate from the rest of the country has already been reawarded to three competent companies. He assured that the construction of that road alone is enough a good work for the people of Zuru Emirate to reward the governor with their total support.

Major General Sani Sami commended the Governor for treating all parts of the state equally by spreading development to all the nooks and crannies of the state. He accordingly urged the Governor to see his re-election as a foregone conclusion.

Responding, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed who led some visiting journalists to the Palace on a working tour, praised the Emir for always standing by the government of Dr Nasir and for his very valuable advices on the way forward for Kebbi state.

He said the prayers and support of the people have always guided the Governor in his desire to see that Kebbi becomes fully developed. “More dividends of democracy by the Dr Idris administration are in the pipeline. What’s required is for the people to continue to support the government by cooperating with it to make Kebbi better for all residents”.

Under two years, the Commissioner further said, the Governor has done what looked like an impossibility and it is looking like this is just the beginning of many good things to come. He said at last, God has answered the prayers of the people of Kebbi state for a leader with the patriotism, courage, vision and love for the people to steer the affairs of the state and bring the much needed development.
Souvenirs usually prepared for visitors were given to the members of the team through the Commissioner.
