We Reject Gov Lolang Imposed Candidates For 2023 Election– Plateau Electorates Cry Out

There is a strong indication that a paramount shift will take place in the political space of Plateau state in the forthcoming 2023 general elections If urgent steps are not taken  to correct some alleged wrong doings by the Governor of the state, Simon Bako Lalong.
This fear seems to have taken a grip in the psyche of the good people of the state because of certain political developments emanating from the Government House,
Rayfield, Jos, the state capital

Political heavyweights and the electorates are shouting foul over recent maneuvers, and alleging that the state Governor, Simom BakoLalong and his hatchet men have hijacked the All Progressives Congress (APC) party machinery in the state and imposed candidates for the 2023 forthcoming general elections.

For example, it is on record that the 207 Federal electoral wards in the state that are supposed to elect five persons each as ad- hoc delegates to be accredited to vote at the Congress for the Gubernatorial primary were completely sidelined in gross violation of the party constitution and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) guidelines for political elections in Nigeria. Interestingly is that, even though some aspirants actually bought forms to contest at the primary, no election took place as scheduled for 26th of May, 2022. Yet, the names of those who did not buy the forms miraculously appeared on the list that the Governor is waving in the faces of Plateau state electorates as the APC candidate for Plateau state governorship election of 2023.
A party stalwart in the state, named withheld, said, “Let it be categorically stated that the people of Plateau state cannot be coerced or deceived into buying into the personal agenda of the Governor by his flagrant disregard to due process to the detriment of the generality of the electorates. We cannot watch him service himself while the state drowns”.

“If the Governor has forgotten the footprints of history so soon, let him be reminded that, he got into Government House Rayfield, through protest votes. Senator Jonah Jang, the immediate past governor of the state made the same grievous mistake by attempting to impose his cousin in Government House, Rayfield. He failed woefully”.

A resident in Jos, the state capital said, ‘the people of Plateau state still remember vividly when Lalong laid blames on the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), for corruption and nepotism. Development parameters in Plateau indicate that he has performed worse than the PDP. The candid advised is that he should brace up to meet the yearnings of the Plateau people through positive infrastructural development, rather than imposing a former  Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. NentaweYilwtda Goshe, a late entrant, on the people as Plateau state APC candidate for 2023 guber election. Another concern is that while the people of Plateau feel that his mentor, former Governor of the state, Senator Joshua Dariye should be left off the hook, he keeps mum.

It is in view of these unfortunate developments that, Plateau state electorates appeal to the All Progressives Congress National Secretariat, to dispassionately look into the political misadventure of Governor Simon Lalong and intervene to correct this gross violation of the Electoral Act, 2022. This is the only away that will help the APC to avoid the repeat of the Zamfara state episode of 2019. “The people of Plateau state want a peoples Governor, not an imposed stooge.
