The jinx has been broken – no student in any Edo State-owned tertiary institutions would suffer to pay fees henceforth – they would now enjoy the federal government loan initiated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu known as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), it has emerged.
Recall that Governor Monday Okpebholo last week stated that his government was implementing President Bola Tinubu’s education blueprint in the State – today, the government has announced partnership with NELFUND and all necessary modalities to enable tertiary students in the state to access the loan has been resolved.
In a statement by the Commissioner for Education, Pally Iyamu said the partnership will guarantee all Edo students access to university and tertiary education without paying school fees immediately and will give them access to a monthly stipend meant to offset their expenses, while schooling.
While calling on students across the various tertiary institutions in the state to take advantage of this great initiative by the Governor Monday Okpebholo led administration, the commissioner said, “Governor Okpebholo was resolved to lessen the financial burden and obligations on parents and this partnership will serve as a big relief to parents”.
