In a significant move to enhance the operational efficiency of the Nigerian Police Force, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has ordered the immediate posting of seven Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to key positions, alongside the reassignment of eighteen Commissioners of Police (CPs) who are set to assume AIG ranks, pending approval from the Police Service Commission (PSC).
The announcement, made through a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, emphasizes the importance of this comprehensive redeployment.
The force PRO said the initiative aims to strategically reposition the police force, ensuring that it is better equipped to fulfill its responsibilities and meet the expectations of the public.
Among the newly appointed AIGs is Margaret Ochalla, who will now lead the AIG FCID Annex in Lagos; AIG Abayomi Peter Oladipo, assigned to AIG Zone 13 in Ukpo; and AIG Fred Ekokotu, who will oversee AIG Zone 11 in Osogbo.
Other key appointments include AIG Iwo Nemi Edwin Osigboka, now in charge of the AIG Border Patrol Force at Force Headquarters in Abuja; AIG Garba Ahmed, who will head the Department of Training and Development at Force Headquarters; AIG Salman Dogo, assigned to AIG Zone 5 in Benin; and AIG Kanayo Uzuegbu, responsible for AIG Zone 9 in Umuahia.
In addition to the AIG appointments, eighteen CPs have been designated to various strategic offices as they transition to AIG roles, pending PSC approval.
These appointments include CP Patrick Adedeji Atayero, who will serve as Commandant of the Police Academy in Kano; CP Tolani Alausa, assigned to AIG Zone 16 in Yenagoa; and CP Musibau Ajani, who will oversee AIG Zone 17 in Akure.
Others include CP Mobolaji Victor Olaiya, now at AIG DICT in Abuja; CP Laolu Adegbite, MFR, assigned to AIG Interpol, and CP Clement Robert, who will lead AIG Community Policing, Research & Planning at Force Headquarters.
The reshuffling also affects CP Gyongon Augustine Grimah, now at AIG Zone 10 in Sokoto; CP Thomas Abraham Nabhon, assigned to AIG ONSA; and CP Musa Auwal Mohammed, who will oversee AIG Zone 3 in Yola, CP Mohammed Shehu Dalijan to AIG CTU, CP Olatunji Disu to AIG SPU, CP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu to AIG Zone 12 in Bauchi.
The list continues with CP Fasuba Akinyele to AIG Investment, CP Musa Kareem to AIG Force Headquarters Annex in Lagos, CP Chukwudi Chris Ariekpere to AIG FCID Annex in Enugu, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa to AIG Zone 14 in Katsina, CP Godwin I. Eze to AIG DFA at Force Headquarters, and CP Abel J. Zwalchir Miri to AIG Communications at Force Headquarters.
These strategic appointments reflect the IGP’s commitment to strengthening the leadership within the police force and enhancing its ability to serve and protect the Nigerian populace effectively.
