The Sokoto State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with the State Ministry of Sports Development to advance sports in the state.
During a courtesy visit to the commissioner, SWAN Chairman Umar Kware emphasized the association’s dedication to strengthening its partnership with the ministry. He praised the commissioner for his efforts in revitalizing sports within a short time in office and extended condolences to the ministry over the recent passing of a staff member.
Comrade Kabiru Gobirawa also commended the commissioner’s leadership, stating that the visit aligned with SWAN’s national directive to support sports development in Sokoto.
In response, the State Commissioner for Sports Development, Engineer Mustapha Muhammad, acknowledged the crucial role of sports journalists in promoting and analyzing sports activities. He described them as a vital link between athletes and the public, helping to generate interest and awareness about sports achievements.
“The way you analyze and promote sports encourages more people in the community to engage with sports,” the commissioner noted. “Your role is invaluable to the ministry, and we appreciate your efforts. We will continue to strengthen our relationship with SWAN to ensure effective sports promotion in Sokoto.”
The meeting reinforced the commitment between SWAN and the ministry, paving the way for improved sports coverage, athlete promotion, and overall sports growth in Sokoto State.
