In a renewed resolve to turn Nigeria’s maritime potentials into actualities, the Nigerian Ports Authority has identified increased automation, reconstruction of aged port infrastructure, renewal of equipment, increased collaboration with the Nigerian Customs, and other agencies to eradicate duplicity of functions, amongst other factors constraining optimal performance of the ports.
Speaking during the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG) discourse themed “Pathways to Sustainable Economic Transformation and Inclusion,” on the ‘Role of the Nigerian Ports Authority in Eliminating Constraints to Port Operations’, the Managing Director, Mohd Bello Koko, said “The deployment of the Port Community System (PCS) as a precursor to the implementation of a National Single Window remains the most veritable path to sustainable economic transformation, which we are set to spearhead as Nigeria’s foremost trade facilitation platform”.
