… imports additional 2.3 billion litres

The Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Ltd says it has commenced a 24 hours round-the-clock loading and retail of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) nationwide to bridge the shortage of the product.
This statement was made is a press briefing with newsmen today at the NNPC towers in Abuja.
In the briefing, The Group Executive Director Downstream – Mr Adeyemi Adetunji said “Major Oil Marketers of Nigeria (MOMAN), Depot Owners & Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN) and Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) have commenced 24 hours loading and dispensing activities in some of their designated outlets”.
He affirmed that NNPC ltd has over 1 billion litres of petrol in stock and the 24 hour initiative is to drive distribution to ease the pains of end users. In the same vein, he said “2.3 billions litres will arrive the country between now and the end of February 2022 to restore sufficiency level even above the national target of 30 days.
And to ensure compliance, “NNPC has constituted a monitoring team, with the support of the Authority (NMDPRA) and other Security Agencies to ensure smooth distribution of PMS nationwide”.
Also present at the briefing were, the Managing Director, Petroleum Production Marketing Company, Mallam Isiyaku Abdullahi, Group General Manager (GGM), Group Public Affairs Division (GPAD), Garbadeen Muhammed and the Managing Director NNPC Retail, Mrs. Elizabeth Aliyuda.
At the end of the briefing, they implored Nigerians to avoid panic buying as the ongoing efforts will be sustained to restore normalcy in a few days.
