The newly appointed Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ajao Adewale officially assumed office on Wednesday, promising to strengthen security through intelligence-driven and proactive policing.
Adewale replaces Assistant Inspector General Tunji Disu, who has been redeployed to lead the Special Protection Unit at the Force Headquarters.
During the handover ceremony in Abuja, Adewale praised his predecessor’s leadership and vowed to build on his achievements to enhance service delivery.
“On behalf of the officers and men of this command, I appreciate the quality leadership that the immediate past CP exhibited while he was here. I assure you that we will uphold and expand upon his legacy. You will hear only good news from us,” he stated.
The new CP also assured officers of his commitment to quality leadership while pledging a more effective and responsive policing system for residents of the FCT.
“To my officers, I promise strong leadership, and to Abuja residents, I guarantee quality service delivery. We will implement intelligence-driven and proactive policing strategies. With God on our side, we will continue to improve,” Adewale added.
In his farewell remarks, Disu urged officers to extend their full cooperation to the new commissioner, emphasizing the importance of teamwork in ensuring the safety and security of the nation’s capital.
“We have met with the management team, and they have assured us of their support for the new CP. I also appeal to all personnel to give him the same level of dedication and commitment,” Disu stated.
