NASG To Replace Items Vandalized At UBE Second Chance School In Akwanga

….as Engineer Sule assures of adequate security

Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, said his administration will replace items vandalized by criminals recently at the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Second Chance School in Akwanga.

Engineer Sule made this known shortly after inspecting the facility, on Tuesday.

While expressing his displeasure over the level of vandalization at the school, which saw unknown criminals carting away equipment installed in the school, the Governor assured that security will be tightened at the facility.

He explained that among the measures also taken to further secure the school, will be to allocate lands surrounding the Akwanga Second Chance School, to individuals who will promptly develop the area, so that the school will not be left in isolation.

To this end, the Governor directed officials of the state Ministry of Lands, to liaise with officials of the Akwanga Local Government Area, in order to allocate the adjacent lands bordering the school, to competent individuals who will develop the area.

Engineer Sule was accompanied on the visit by the state Commissioner for Education, Hajiya Fatu Jimeta Sabo, Akwanga Local Government Area Chairman, Hon Safiyanu Isa, Akwanga paramount ruler, the Chun Mada, HRH Samson Gamu Yare, amongst other top government officials.

It would be recalled that, the UBE Second Chance School in Akwanga, was recently commissioned, with a view to giving mostly women, a second chance to acquire basic education, as well as vocational skills.

The school was however vandalized recently, with thieves breaking into the premises and carting away valuables worth millions of naira.

Earlier, while returning from Abuja, the Governor had stop over in Keffi, Akwanga and Nasarawa Eggon, where he inspected the Keffi township road construction, the Akwanga VIP Lodge, Akwanga Modern market, as well as the Nasarawa Eggon new market.

Engineer Sule expressed appreciation over the progress of work at the sites, except at the Akwanga VIP lodge where he directed the contractor to expedite action on the work with a view to completing the project in time.
