The Minister of Transportation, Engr. Jaji Mu’azu Sambo, has declared the Dala Inland Dry Port(DIDP), Kano, open.
The dry Port is located in Zawachiki, Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State.
The Minister, who performed the opening ceremony on Saturday, said he did so in line with the provisions of the Nigerian Ports Authority Act.
DIDP Kano is to serve as a Port of Origin and Destination.
The minister also embarked on a familiarization tour of the 20,000 TEU Capacity Port.
The ceremony was graced by well-meaning Nigerians including the Governor of Kano State, HE, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, OFR, (Khadimul Islam), ably represented by the Deputy Governor/Acting Governor, HE Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, the Emir of Kano HRH Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, ably represented by the District Head of Kumbotso Local Government, Alh. Ahmadu Ado Bayero, Sarkin Dawakin Tsakar Gida of Kano, the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Magdalene Ajani, the Chairman, Dala Inland Dry Port Kano, Alh. Abubakar Sahabo Bawuro, the Chairman, Board of Directors NRC, Engr. Ibrahim Alhassan, the Executive Secretary, CEO, Nigerians Shippers Council, Hon. Emmanuel Jime, the MD, Nigerian Ports Authority, Mallam Muhammed Bello Koko, the MD, NRC, Mr Fidet Okhiria, the CEO, CRFFN, Barr. Samuel Nwako, the MD, Dala Inland Dry Port, Alh. Ahmed Rabiu, the Leader of Delegation of Nigeria-Niger Joint Commission, Alh. Attawu Zakauwanu
Others who attended the opening ceremony of the port were the DGs, Special Advisers, the entire Directors of the Federal Ministry of Transportation, NRC, Shippers Council, and the First Deputy President of the Coalition of Northern State Chamber of Commerce Industry Mine and Agriculture, Alh. Dalhatu Abubakar, other distinguished guests and the media.
