In a remarkable display of bravery and professionalism, the Katsina State Police Command successfully thwarted a kidnapping attempt, rescuing 30 victims and recovering a significant number of stolen livestock in Faskari Local Government Area.
The operation took place in the early hours of Wednesday, demonstrating the police’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the community.
According to the Police Spokesman, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the incident unfolded around 1 AM when the Faskari Divisional Police Headquarters received urgent reports of an armed attack on Unguwar Sarkin Fulani, located in Dutsen Dadi via Tafoki village. Suspected armed bandits, equipped with dangerous weapons, had stormed the area, abducted 30 residents while simultaneously rustled 92 sheep, goats, and two cows.
In response to the alarming reports, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at Faskari swiftly mobilized an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) patrol team to the scene.
The officers executed a tactical ambush against the bandits, engaging them in a fierce gun battle that forced the assailants to retreat, leaving behind the kidnapped victims unharmed, recover all the stolen livestock during the operation.
The statement further indicated that efforts are now underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects, with investigations actively progressing.
Commissioner of Police for the Katsina State Command, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, commended the officers for their exemplary conduct during the rescue mission. He praised their high level of professionalism and courage in the face of danger.
