Nigeria’s leading table tennis star, Aruna Quadri, has secured a place in the semi-finals of the 2025 International Table Tennis Federation, ITTF, Africa Cup taking place in Tunis, Tunisia, demonstrating his continued dominance on the African stage.
The defending ITTF Africa Cup champion Quadri defeated Oba Oba Kizito of Côte d’Ivoire in the quarterfinals to secure a place in the semis, while also securing his spot at the World Cup.
Quadri first defeated Salifou Abdel-Kaden of Benin in Group 2, securing his spot in the knockout stages with a dominant performance.
In the Round of 16, Quadri continued his strong form, defeating Mohamed Khaloufi of Tunisia.
His clinical performance helped him progress further in the tournament.
Despite a tough challenge from Tunisia’s rising star Ela Saidi, Nigerian Fatima Bello also powered through with a 4-1 win to book her spot in the ITTF Africa Cup semis and secure a ticket to the World Cup.
