“I Will Not Be Silenced” – Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Denies Apologizing to Senate Over Allegations Against Akpabio

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) has strongly denied reports suggesting that she apologized to the Nigerian Senate regarding her sexual harassment allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

In a statement released on Monday, March 24, 2025, titled “Re-purported Apology to the Senate Over My Sexual Allegations Claim Against Senate President Godswill Akpabio,” she declared:

“I, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, stand firm in my resolve to never apologise for speaking my truth.”

She described the viral reports as entirely false, emphasizing that she will not be intimidated or silenced.

“The desperation to silence me is quite palpable, but I will not be intimidated. I urge the public to ignore the viral report claiming that I apologized to the Senate, as it is entirely false. I will continue to stand my ground and fight for what is right, even in the face of adversity,” she added.

The controversy stems from Akpoti-Uduaghan’s recent allegations that Senate President Akpabio engaged in misconduct, which has sparked intense political debate. Following her claims, reports emerged suggesting she had retracted her statements and apologized—claims she has now outrightly denied.

Her refusal to apologize has fueled public discourse, with women’s rights groups rallying in her support. Civil society organizations have also condemned what they describe as attempts to suppress her voice. A campaign tagged “We Are All Natasha” has gained traction on social media, with activists calling for accountability and justice.

Meanwhile, some lawmakers and political analysts argue that her allegations should be properly investigated rather than politicized, urging caution in addressing the matter.

As the debate continues, Akpoti-Uduaghan insists she will not back down, maintaining her stance in the face of mounting political pressure.
