Vice-President Kashim Shettima has called on Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), alongside the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), to break down bureaucratic barriers and deepen collaboration for a more business-friendly Nigeria.
Speaking at the close of the PEBEC retreat for MDA Heads and Reform Champions in Abuja, Shettima emphasized that Nigeria’s economic progress hinges on the seamless synergy among public institutions.
“This retreat, convened by PEBEC which I chair, aims not just to review reforms, but to deepen something greater — synergy,” he said. “We cannot afford isolation when our challenges are increasingly interconnected.”
Reaffirming the Tinubu administration’s commitment to its eight-point Renewed Hope Agenda, Shettima stressed the need for government institutions to shift from policy rhetoric to measurable results. He underscored the importance of trust, innovation, and joint planning in achieving reform goals and restoring public confidence.
“Whether registering a business or accessing a service, Nigerians should not be trapped in red tape,” he said. “We must streamline procedures, eliminate duplication, and harness technology to boost transparency and efficiency.”
Shettima urged MDA heads to abandon the “not my mandate” mindset and form interagency task teams to fast-track key reforms. “Let this retreat mark a culture of action, accountability, and collaboration,” he stated.
With investors watching and citizens expecting more from government, the Vice-President concluded with a powerful message: “Our people deserve institutions that work—not in fragments, but in complete sync.”
