In a bold move to secure Nigeria’s future, Vice President Kashim Shettima has inaugurated an Inter-ministerial Committee on Research and Innovation, tasking its members with the critical mission of ensuring national food and energy security.
Speaking at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Thursday, Shettima emphasized the committee’s strategic role in driving President Bola Tinubu’s vision of transforming Nigeria into a trillion-dollar economy within the next decade. He noted that the committee is central to efforts aimed at reducing Nigeria’s dependency on imports and harnessing homegrown solutions to power economic growth.
“This is not just another committee—it is the cockpit from which Nigeria’s innovation economy will be piloted,” the Vice President declared.
The newly inaugurated body is expected to pool intellectual and financial resources across sectors, focusing on agricultural innovation, energy solutions, and technological advancement to lay a strong foundation for sustainable development.
With this initiative, the Tinubu administration continues to underscore its commitment to long-term economic transformation, driven by research, innovation, and strategic collaboration across government ministries.
