FC Barcelona delivered a stunning performance in the Champions League on April 9, 2025, demolishing Borussia Dortmund 4-0 in the first leg of their quarter-final at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. The Spanish giants were in control from start to finish, showcasing a level of attacking brilliance that left Dortmund with little chance.
Barcelona’s offensive line was on fire, with Robert Lewandowski scoring twice against his former club. The Polish striker’s first came from a header, and the second was a clinical strike from outside the box. Raphinha opened the scoring early in the first half, and young sensation Lamine Yamal added a fourth in the dying minutes, sealing a comfortable win.
Defensively, Barcelona looked solid, stifling Dortmund’s attempts to break through, and controlled the tempo of the game with their trademark possession play. Meanwhile, Dortmund struggled to contain the quick transitions and attacking fluidity of their opponents.
With a commanding 4-0 lead, Barcelona has one foot firmly planted in the semi-finals, while Dortmund faces a monumental task to overcome the deficit in the second leg. This result underlined Barcelona’s revival under Xavi and their serious intent to challenge for the Champions League crown.
