FMBN is participating at the 2021 edition of the Archibuilt Exposition, a yearly platform for exhibition of local building materials and construction technology instituted by the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA).
The FMBN MD/CE, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, on Monday at the opening of the event, commended the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) for sustaining the platform and ensuring that it holds year in, year out, despite the challenges.
“We urge you not to rest on your oars, for the platform to continue to engage our government at all levels, policymakers, professionals, and sector players on ideas for the advancement of Nigeria’s built environment and the entire economy,” he said.
The Group Head Corporate Communications, Mr. Lawal Isa K/Sauri, represented Arc. Dangiwa at the event.
He emphasized the need for professionals in the built environment to constantly engage, re-examine and reappraise our roles and progress on issues affecting our environment, particularly climate change and advancement in technology.
“These issues are of global concern, and Nigeria is not left out. Incidentally, Nigeria is a signatory to the Paris Climate Agreement. Therefore, we should be concerned about ensuring environmental sustenance, access to safe and affordable housing, and making our cities and urban centers sustainable through adequate provision of infrastructures and other social amenities.
We should create green public spaces and embrace the solar energy system to reduce pollution and help the environment. Every negative effect of climate change is right here with us; flooding, higher temperature/global warming, heavy rainfall, rising sea level, etc.
All these adversely affect human health and food production. This is made worse through lack of adequate housing and unsafe environmental conditions.”
Arc. Dangiwa noted that “as Architects, we must also be mindful of these issues by creating building designs that enhance energy efficiency.”
