

Nasarawa State governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has sworn-in Him. Safiyanu Isa as the new executive chairman of Akwanga Local Government Council.
Engineer Sule performed the swearing-in ceremony at the Government House, on Friday.
According to the governor, this was in fulfilment of the provision of Section 31 (1) of the Local Government Law 2018 and the Nasarawa State Legal Notice Nos 5, 2018, following the sudden demise of the former chairman, Hon. Emmanuel Joseph Leweh, who died on Thursday, January 13, 2020 at a hospital in Abuja.
Engineer Sule charged Hon Isa, who until now, was the deputy chairman of the council, to uphold the virtues of the administration anchored on the principles of transparency, accountability, probity and prudent management of public resources.
He tasked the new chairman to sustain the path of progress and development already established by his predecessor, calling on him to always collaborate with the Ministry for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, in the execution of his policies and programmes, aimed at accelerating the development of the council.
The governor used the opportunity to call on the people of Akwanga Local Government Council to continue to embrace peace and harmony, while also commending the security agencies for their efforts towards sustaining peace and maintenance of law, order.
He appreciated the presence of all distinguished party supporters, relations, friends, associates and other stakeholders, who turned up to identify with the newly sworn-in chairman.
Engineer Sule equally paid tribute to the late Hon Emmanuel Joseph Leweh, praying for the repose of the soul of the former chairman.
“May God continue to give his family and people of Akwanga Local Government Council, the fortitude to bear this huge loss,” he stated.
In a vote of thanks, Hon Safiyanu Isa, assured the governor of strict adherence to the administration’s mantra of prudence and accountability.
