The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has phased out the Annual Performance Evaluation Report (APER) for staff performance, replacing it with the modern Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Management System.
Registrar-General of CAC, Alhaji Garba Abubakar, announced the introduction of the KPI at the commencement of a Sensitisation Training on the KPI Based Appraisal System in Abuja.
Abubakar noted that since the establishment of CAC over 30 years ago, it has been using the APER form to measure staff performance, adding that it has became subjective and obsolete
The Registrar General said that the event was to acquaint Supervisory Staff on the rudiments and applications of the new Appraisal Form to ensure its effective adoption.
Represented by Haruna Salihu, Assistant Director, Records and Promotion, Abubakar said that the training would be conducted in streams to ensure effective understanding of rudiments of the new Appraisal System.
He charged participants to make optimal use of the opportunity provided by the training and to remain committed to the effective discharge of their duties.
Abubakar emphasised that the reformation of the Performance Measuring System was part of his continued efforts to reposition the Commission.
He expressed optimism that the KPI system would enhance productivity, reward hard work and discourage laziness.
It will be recalled that during an earlier Retreat tagged “Review of CAC Annual Performance Evaluation Form”, the Registrar General had assured that efforts would continue to be made to reposition the commission for optimal performance.
Also commenting on the new appraisal system at an earlier Retreat, CAC Director of Human Resources, Mrs Olayemi Oyeniyi, said the KPI was in tune with best global practices in performance management.
She said that the KPI was designed to assess staff performance on three basic and generally accepted performance determinants: Knowledge, Behaviour and Task accomplished.
Oyeniyi further stated that the new form was structured into parts A, B and C which includes a KPI for the year under review and a KPI for the forthcoming year among others. (NAN)
