In response to the escalating security challenges facing Nigeria, the pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere, has urged the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, to implement strategic measures aimed at restoring peace and stability across the nation.
Afenifere emphasized the importance of a unified approach in addressing the pervasive threats posed by banditry, kidnapping, and other forms of criminality. The organization specifically called for enhanced collaboration between the NSA and state governors to develop and execute effective security strategies.
“In this regard, we urge the NSA to work with state governors to urgently implement strategies that will restore safety and order,” Afenifere stated.
The call from Afenifere comes amid a surge in violent incidents across various regions, including recent attacks in Katsina State, where multiple lives were lost and numerous individuals abducted. Such incidents have heightened fears among citizens and underscored the urgent need for comprehensive security interventions.
As a prominent socio-political entity, Afenifere has consistently advocated for policies and actions that promote the welfare and security of Nigerians. The organization reiterated its readiness to support initiatives aimed at fostering national unity and safeguarding lives and property.
