In the wake of a devastating tanker explosion on Karu Bridge in Abuja, President Bola Tinubu has swiftly acted to ensure that the victims receive immediate medical attention.
The explosion, which occurred on Wednesday night, caused multiple accidents and tragic loss of life.
The President’s directive guarantees that survivors are treated promptly at various healthcare facilities across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
President Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed that President Tinubu has also instructed security agencies, particularly those in charge of road safety, to enhance traffic monitoring at key entry and exit points around the city to prevent further incidents.
The explosion, which took place around 7:14 pm near Karu Bridge located between Kugbo and Nyanya on the Abuja-Keffi Expressway was caused by a truck that lost control, resulting in a massive inferno. The flames engulfed multiple vehicles, leaving around 10 people dead and several others seriously injured.
The President expressed deep condolences to the families of those who lost loved ones in the horrific event and prayed for the souls of the deceased.
Tinubu also offered his heartfelt wishes for the families who are grieving, hoping for God’s comfort in their time of sorrow.
In addition to directing urgent medical care and bolstering traffic monitoring, President Tinubu has called for a comprehensive investigation into the explosion, which occurred during peak traffic hours, to better understand the circumstances and prevent future tragedies.
