Engineer Sule Condemns Calls For Resignation Of APC National Chairman

…Describes Moves As Unnecessary, Unfair

Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has condemned in strong words, recent calls for the resignation of the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu, describing the move as unfair and unnecessary.

Engineer Sule made this know while meeting with former aspirants of the APC from across the state, at the Government House, on Monday.

The Governor said the move seeking for the removal of Senator Adamu as the National Chairman of the APC is untimely, rude and completely unnecessary, especially that the party is still in the middle of an election.

He pointed out that, at a time the party is recording successes at the recently concluded presidential and national assembly elections, for anyone to call for tye resignation of Senator Adamu amounts to shear wickedness and disrespect for all the efforts put in by the national chairman before, during and even after the election.

“At a time we are having these successes, we saw in the news media that some people are calling for the resignation of the National Chairman and we condemn that call, especially at a time like this.

“The gentleman who has worked so hard, even at his age, going around everywhere with our presidential candidate for the campaigns, meetings and several initiatives taken to tackle various issues, for someone to call for his resignation at the middle of elections, that is uncalled for, unfair, that is wickedness, rude and completely unnecessary.

“For us in Nasarawa State, we are condemning that call, not just because the National Chairman is from Nasarawa State but because we strongly believe this is not the time for it,” the Governor stated.

Speaking on the event, Engineer Sule appreciated the APC aspirants for meeting a day before to endorse his candidature ahead of this Saturday’s governorship and state assembly election.

While congratulating them on the successes recorded by the party at the presidential and national assembly election, where Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu emerged as the President-Elect, the Governor however emphasized the need for the APC to retain its leadership in Nasarawa State because the state stands to benefit maximally under a Federal Government controlled by the same APC.

Earlier, in his opening remarks, leader of the delegation, Hon. Kassim Mohammed Kassim, said aspirants of the APC that contested for senatorial, House of Representatives and state assembly tickets, were at the Government House, to reaffirm their support for the reelection bid of the Governor.

Hon Kassim, who is a former member of the state assembly who sought to return to the house, used the opportunity of the meeting, to show appreciation to Engineer Sule, for his moral and financial support to all the aspirants.

“Your Excellency we want to seize this opportunity to thank you sincerely for your support to all APC aspirants in Nasarawa State, your love as a father. This is to tell you that, we are doing our possible best, by the special grace of God, for the reelection of this administration come this Saturday. You will permit me to say Sir, that all the support given to this group both morally and financially we want to say thank you,” he said.

Hon Kassim disclosed that, the group earlier held a meeting convened by Barrister Labaran Magaji, a senatorial aspirant for Nasarawa West, where the group endorsed the reelection bid of the Governor.

“We had an interative session yesterday with one of us who contested for Senate in Keffi zone, Barrister Labaran Magaji. The discussion was fruitful and we unanimously agreed to endorse you, not just endorse you but to call on all our supporters to support APC in the next election,” Hon Kassim said.

On the move to remove Senator Adamu as the National Chairman of the party, it would be recalled that, the National Vice Chairman (North-West) of the APC, Mallam Salihu Lukman, recently called for the national chairman of the party to be relieved of his duty, supposedly in a bid to balance the Muslim-Muslim ticket.
