On Saturday, April 26, 2025, suspected Boko Haram insurgents launched a deadly assault on Kopre village in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, resulting in the deaths of at least 10 hunters and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF). The victims were part of a rescue mission aimed at countering the insurgents’ activities in the region. 
Local authorities reported that the attackers arrived in large numbers, overwhelming the community’s defense and causing significant casualties. The District Head of Dugwaba, Mr. Simon Yakubu, expressed deep concern over the recurring attacks, noting that this was the fifth assault on villages in the area within the past two weeks. 
This incident is part of a broader resurgence of jihadist violence in northeastern Nigeria, with Boko Haram and its splinter group, Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), escalating attacks using advanced tactics such as armed drones and roadside explosives. At least 48 people have been killed in recent attacks across Adamawa and Borno states, raising alarms about the militants’ growing capabilities and the need for enhanced security measures. 
The Nigerian military has yet to release an official statement regarding the attack in Kopre village. Meanwhile, local leaders and residents are urgently calling for increased security presence and resources to protect vulnerable communities, particularly as the rainy season complicates displacement and access to aid.
