By Kabiru Abdulrauf

Nigeria’s powerhouse women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, have been drawn into Group D for the upcoming 2025 AfroBasket Women’s Championship, where they will face Mozambique and Rwanda in what promises to be a competitive group stage.

As the defending champions, D’Tigress will be aiming to clinch a record-extending seventh title at the continental tournament, which is scheduled to take place in Côte d’Ivoire. Fresh off their historic quarter-final finish at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, the Nigerian squad enters the tournament with momentum and high expectations.

Elsewhere in the draw, host nation Côte d’Ivoire faces a challenging path in Group A alongside Angola and Egypt. Group B features a mix of strength and speed with Mali, Cameroon, and South Sudan, while Group C brings together Senegal, Uganda, and Guinea.

With a balanced blend of experience and emerging talent, D’Tigress will be looking to dominate Group D and continue their reign as Africa’s top women’s basketball team.

All eyes will be on Côte d’Ivoire as Africa’s elite teams battle it out for continental glory and a shot at further international recognition.
