The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory Command, has mobilized 4,000 personnel to ensure safety and security for residents during the upcoming Eid-Fitr festivities.
NSCDC FCT Commandant Olusola Odumosu announced that the 4,000 personnel are being deployed across all areas of Abuja. The goal is to protect lives, property, and critical national assets before, during, and after the celebrations.
The deployment includes specialized teams such as the Female Strike Force, Arms Squad, Operation Adkasu, Counter-Terrorism, and Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Explosives. These units will focus on securing vulnerable locations including prayer grounds, shopping malls, markets, recreational centres, and government buildings.
Special attention is being given to high-risk areas like motor parks, amusement parks, and diplomatic offices. Covert operations and surveillance have been initiated, with undercover units actively monitoring potential security threats, particularly in locations known to harbor criminal activity, such as uncompleted buildings.
Commandant Odumosu instructed all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to remain vigilant and ensure full deployment of their teams. “All hands must be on deck. I will not tolerate any form of breaches. Ensure you deploy your personnel adequately,” he emphasized.
The NSCDC is working closely with other security agencies to maintain discipline and respect for citizens’ rights while ensuring a peaceful celebration. Residents are also urged to stay alert and report any suspicious activity, with a visible NSCDC presence serving as a deterrent to potential offenders.
Odumosu warned criminals against targeting critical national infrastructure, noting that covert officers are actively monitoring the capital and will take swift action against any criminal activities.
The NSCDC’s proactive measures underscore the commitment to keeping Abuja secure during one of the nation’s most important celebrations. Residents can expect a visible, coordinated effort to maintain safety throughout the festive period.
