The Federal Government of Nigeria has introduced the Draft National Policy Development and Management Framework, aiming to address inefficiencies and accelerate policy implementation across the nation. This initiative seeks to establish a standardized approach to policy formulation, coordination, and execution within federal Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). 
Historically, Nigeria’s policy-making landscape has faced several challenges:
•Decentralized Policy-Making: The absence of a central coordinating mechanism has led to inconsistent policy development across various government branches, resulting in poor coordination and oversight.
•Content-Related Issues: Ambiguities in policy terminology and a lack of differentiation between various policy documents have caused confusion, hindering effective implementation.
•Limited Stakeholder Engagement: Insufficient involvement of relevant stakeholders during the policy-making process has often led to policies that do not adequately address the needs of the populace.
•Weak Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Systems: The absence of robust M&E mechanisms has made it challenging to assess policy outcomes and make necessary adjustments.
The Draft National Policy Development and Management Framework aims to:
•Standardize Policy Processes: Establish clear guidelines for policy development, ensuring consistency and coherence across MDAs. 
•Enhance Coordination: Strengthen inter-governmental relations to promote unified policy implementation and reduce contradictions. 
•Promote Evidence-Based Policy Making: Encourage the use of data-driven approaches to inform policy decisions, moving away from opinion-based methods.

To operationalize the framework, the government plans to:
