In a decisive move to uphold accountability within its public sector, the Kano State Government has issued a final warning to civil servants with disabilities who have yet to complete the mandatory verification process. Failure to comply promptly may result in dismissal from service.
The verification exercise, initiated to ensure transparency and orderliness within the civil service, requires all employees, including those with disabilities, to validate their employment status. This process aims to eliminate discrepancies, identify ghost workers, and streamline the workforce for enhanced efficiency.
In July 2023, the Kano State Government withheld salaries of approximately 10,000 civil servants pending verification, underscoring its commitment to this initiative. Despite these measures, a segment of disabled civil servants has not complied, prompting the government to issue this final ultimatum.
The government emphasizes that adherence to the verification process is mandatory for all employees, irrespective of physical abilities. Non-compliance could lead to dismissal, as per the disciplinary procedures outlined in the Kano State Civil Service Rules.
While enforcing these measures, the Kano State Government reiterates its commitment to inclusivity and support for persons with disabilities. The verification process is not intended to marginalize but to ensure that all civil servants are accounted for and receive due benefits.
Affected civil servants with disabilities are urged to complete their verification promptly to avoid potential dismissal. The government remains available to provide necessary assistance to facilitate this process.
