Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has restated the commitment and determination of his administration to return the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 general elections.
Engineer Sule made this known while receiving the report of the 31-man committee on strategy and planning, aimed at making the party victorious during the coming election, at the Government House, on Monday.
According to the Governor, the assignment undertaken by the committee is critical to the success of the party, especially that his administration is committed and determined to return the APC.
He expressed satisfaction that, already some of the recommendations of the committee, which completed its assignment two months ago, are being implemented even before the submission of the report.
“I am happy to hear that some of the recommendations of your committee are already being implemented before we even receive the report. I hope we are implementing them in line with your recommendations,” he said.
While commending the members of the committee for the thorough job done by the committee, Engineer Sule harped on patriotism, stressing that, the pride of the citizens of the state visibly captured in the state’s anthem, will only be realised if the administration continue to show fairness, sincerity, accountability and inclusiveness and to make everyone believes that he or she belongs.
“Our pride will be if we continue to show fairness, sincerity, accountability and inclusiveness, to make everyone believes that he or she belongs and make everyone believe that they are important.
“But the moment we begin to segregate amongst ourselves and look at others as second class, others first class, then all that believe will actually fed away. That is a reason for us to be able to ensure that we entrench this kind of exercise that we have just started,” he added.
He assured the committee that the party in the state will implement the rest of its recommendations since according to him, the exercise was meant to guide the conduct of party and to make the APC victorious in the 2023 general election.
Engineer Sule explained that, it was deliberate that some members of the strategy and planning committee are also members of the campaign council, as this will make for a seamless implementation of the recommendations of the committee.
“I am not disappointed after looking at the composition of the members of the committee. Looking at the kind of people we were able to bring together and for you to do everything that you have done to bring us to where we are, we can’t say anything but to be grateful and show appreciation to everyone of you, for the time you have taken and for the amount of work that you have put in,” the Governor stated.
Earlier, while presenting the report, Chairman of the Committee on Strategy and Planning, former deputy governor of the state, Hon. Damishi Barau Luka, said the 31-man committee inaugurated in June, was mandated to provide the road map for the APC in Nasarawa State to win the 2023 general election.
The chairman said while undertaking the assignment, the committee considered five issues central to its objective namely contact and mobilization, project and programmes of the administration, campaign and publicity, empowerment and welfare of the citizens of the state, strategic hub and activation of command centre.
He pointed out that, this was done taken cognizance of the political climate of the state vis-a-vis, the various political parties in the state, previous patterns of elections, as well as the same fate candidature of the party at the national level.
Hon Barau Luka said even though the committee completed its assignment nearly two months ago, it was unable to submit the report because of the Governor’s tight schedule and other exigencies.
He informed the Governor that the report contain areas of critical examination, which if considered by the campaign council or any body charged with the responsibility of handling the report, will do the APC good during the electioneering campaign.
You will find in the report areas of critical examination that the committee made and we believe that if they are taken into consideration by the campaign council, it will do us good in our electioneering campaign.
“It’s therefore our hope that the administration will find the recommendations in this report very useful towards the victory in the 2023 general elections,” the former deputy governor said.
The committee uses the opportunity of the event, to condole with Engineer Sule, on the passing-on of his Special Adviser on Special Duties, the late Hon. Murtala Lamus.
