Visit to Anambra, Delta And Edo States

Saturday 4th to Tuesday 7th September 2021 will forever remain indelible in my mind because we had the privilege of visiting Anambra, Delta and the Edo States in the company of His Excellency, Lieutenant General TY Buratai (rtd), Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Benin Republic.

On Saturday 4th September, we had the rare privilege of being conducted around some developmental projects in Anambra State by the State Governor, His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano.

We had a sumptuous lunch at the Government House, Awka.

It was lovely to see the State’s International Airport and the ultra-modern International Conference Centre, Awka Anambra State.

Monday 6th September 2021 was equally memorable because of the historical events that happened.

The day commenced with a courtesy call on His Excellency, Godwin Obaseki, the Edo State Governor at the Government House, Benin City.

After that, we proceeded to Igbinedion University Okada, Edo State, where we were received by the Deputy Chancellor, His Excellency, Chief Lucky Igbinedion.

First, we had a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Lawrence Ikechukwu Ezemonye, at the Senate’s Building.

We then went to the convocation hall for the presentation of a lecture and goodwill messages as part of activities marking the 87th birthday of the founder and Chancellor of the University, Chief, (Sir) Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion (JP), the Esama of Benin.

The lecture was presented by the Honourable Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, Chief Ogbonnaya Onu. Subsequently, we went for the commissioning of the Tukur Buratai Centre for Contemporary Security Affairs at the University.

Typically, the Chancellor obliged us with a sumptuous lunch at his Okada mansion.

The following day on an invitation, we had a special breakfast at the residence of Chief, (Sir) Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion (JP), Esama of Benin in Benin City, Edo State.
